Meridian energy therapies are a collection of different techniques which involve tapping the meridian points which help to relieve symptoms of a specific problem. The basic belief is that a negative thought or emotion can cause a disruption in the body's energy system which can lead onto illness within the body and mind. To explain this a little more, if you were to think of a time when you heard something said about you which was complimentary, how does it make you feel when you think of it now? What other things do you notice when this memory is retrieved? Sounds? Smells? Objects? Now think of something which made you feel sad, what happens when you retrieve this memory? Notice how you experience this memory in your body, and how your body reacts to this memory. Perhaps you can still hear the words which were said to you, smells which were present, tastes,and the situation which you were in. Now perhaps you might understand how the mind can have an impact on how you feel.
Have you ever noticed how certain words, sounds, images, tastes, places, and people can trigger a memory? You might notice how the memory makes you feel, angry? Happy? Insecure? Fearful? Confident? Whatever you experience in the present, the memory which has a similar aspect of the sensory stimuli stored within it will present itself in a matter of seconds. You may have several memories which flash through your mind at the same time. However, you may have a memory which has affected you long term, and have had problems as a result.
The cause of a negative emotion can vary, perhaps you have suffered a trauma of some kind which made an impact on the way you are feeling, or were feeling at the time the trauma happened. When I say trauma, it could be a bereavement, an accident,something which was said to you which was hurtful, if you were frightened of something...the list is not exhaustive.
When you experience what you perceive as hurtful or traumatic, the memory is stored along with the emotion and sensory stimulus which was present at the time. If the trauma happened a long time ago, the chances are that there are other symptoms which are present as a result of the original event or experience. An example would be that if you had a spider thrown at you when you were a child, you may have subconsciously stored that experience as a threat to your survival, so as a result, you have a fear of spiders.

These techniques are a gentle way of clearing unwanted emotions and thought patterns which may have been a problem for some time, or perhaps you may have a specific issue which needs to be cleared so that you may continue with a healthy focus on your life. These techniques are not just limited to negative thought patterns and unwanted feelings and emotions, they can be used to help you to change your life, or if you are not sure about something, they can help you to make decisions so that you are able to focus on what it is you actually need.

The technique is very easy to learn, and it is simply a case of using your index and middle finger to tap several times on allocated meridian points while keeping the thought or emotion in mind. You will be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to learn the technique, and how effective it can be. You can apply the 'basic recipe' protocol for almost anything, and use it for many different aspects of your life. By using this technique, you can clear any unwanted thoughts, feelings and emotions fairly quickly, however if the emotion you are experiencing is a result of something else which lies much deeper, then you would need to spend a little more time gently peeling the layers off what lies underneath. If you think of an emotion or thought which you have had for some time,the chances are that over time, other thoughts and emotions will have been wrapped around the original thought. Think of it like layers of an onion, as you begin to peel off the layers, you release the emotion a bit at a time. Something different may appear which may be totally unrelated to the original issue, however it may have been attached to it in some way.
